Gesthus are a group of 22
cosy bungalows in Selfoss in the South of Iceland. Each bungalow with
accommodation for 3 - 4 people, has its own kitchen, TV, WC and shower.
Breakfast, dinner, beer and wine are available for groups only in our
restaurant in the service centre. Among other facilities for hotel guests
are two small hot pools (hot tubs) heated with geothermal water. Our
campsite is one of the best in Iceland with a service center, washing
maschine, tumble drier, WC and showers.

Iceland, Gesthus are the ideal base for tours to Iceland's most famous
scenic attractions. Activities/Leisure: Swimming, walking tours, horseback
riding, sightseeing flight, Salmon & Trout fishing, sailing on kayaks/boats,
jeep safari, museums and golf. Gesthus in Selfoss offers excellent
facilities for campers. The camping ground is located in easy distance of
Selfoss downtown. The site caters for tents, cars, trailer tents, motor
caravans and motor cycles. Vehicles can be parked by tents. Facilities
include hot showers, toilets, public telephone, electric hook ups, washing
machines and tumble dryer. Car park for motor caravans. Open May to
September, 8am to 10pm.
Hekluhestar -the horses of
Hekla - was established in 1981 by Jon Benediktsson and Nicole Chéné at
Austvadsholt. In the summer of 1980 Jon and Nicole, at that time traditional
farmers, decided to take a short vacation into the highland on horseback to
spend a few relaxing days, enjoying the unspoiled nature. Returning home
they developed their idea to offer more people the opportunity to travel
into the wilderness with the quiet and friendly Icelandic horses. For twenty
five years the small family company has guided many groups of people coming
from all over the world through the rugged area of Hekla.
Accommodation with or without
full board for 18 people in a separate house with self-catering located a
short distance from the house of the family. Built 1990 in a old traditional
Icelandic style with turf on the roof which makes the house fit perfectly
into the natural surrounding. The turf makes a unique isolation so sounds
from outside such as wind is barely to be heard. Whatever your interest:
overnight stay, a riding vacation, a sightseeing excursion or longer stay in
conjunction with the activities on the farm, you are welcome.
